6.5 Creedmoor

A 2007 joint development by Hornady and Creedmoor Sports. Originally aimed at target shooting, its mild recoil and flat trajectory have made it popular with hunters too.
The 6.5 Creedmoor was developed by Dave Emary (Hornady) and Dennis DeMille (Creedmoor Sports) and introduced in 2007. The case derives from the .30 Thompson/Center.
High-ballistic-coefficient 6.5 mm bullets retain velocity well and recoil is moderate. The short cartridge length fits short actions.
Jagdliche Verwendung
Works well on roe deer, fallow deer, mouflon and fox; accepted for wild boar with a suitable bullet. For red deer, opinion is divided and careful bullet and range selection are needed. Typical bullet weights are 100–140 grain (6.5–9.1 g).
