.308 Winchester
.308 Win · 7,62×51 mm · 7.62×51 mm NATO (hasonló, de nem azonos)
Winchester's 1952 civilian cartridge, which became the military 7.62×51 mm NATO. A short, strong, accurate case and one of the most widespread hunting cartridges.
The .308 Winchester appeared in 1952 as the commercial version of what became the 7.62×51 mm NATO. Its short case suits short actions, so it is chambered in many types of rifle.
Bullets of 150–180 grain (9.7–11.7 g) leave the muzzle at about 750–850 m/s, with moderate recoil and excellent accuracy.
Hunting use
Suitable for red deer, fallow deer, wild boar, mouflon and roe deer. Typical bullet weights are 150–180 grain (9.7–11.7 g). One of the most common calibers in Hungarian hunting.
