The 1963 belted magnum cartridge with high muzzle velocity and a flat trajectory. Used for long-range hunting and big game.
The .300 Winchester Magnum was developed by Winchester and introduced in 1963. The case derives from the .375 H&H Magnum; the belt locates the cartridge in the chamber.
Bullets of 180–200 grain (11.7–13 g) leave the muzzle at about 900–950 m/s; recoil is heavy.
Jagdliche Verwendung
Used on red deer, fallow deer, wild boar and mouflon, especially at long range and in mountain country. Too powerful for roe deer. Typical bullet weights are 180–200 grain (11.7–13 g).
