.243 Winchester
.243 Win · 6,2×52 mm
The .308 Winchester case necked down to 6 mm (1955). A flat-shooting, mild-recoil cartridge popular for roe deer and fox.
The .243 Winchester was developed by Winchester by necking the .308 Winchester case down to 6 mm and was introduced in 1955. It has remained one of the most popular 6 mm hunting cartridges.
Bullets of 90–100 grain (5.8–6.5 g) leave the muzzle at about 900–1,000 m/s, with a flat trajectory and moderate recoil.
Jagdliche Verwendung
Widely used on roe deer, fallow deer and mouflon, as well as fox and golden jackal. Its small caliber makes it only a limited choice for wild boar and red deer. Typical bullet weights are 90–100 grain (5.8–6.5 g).
