9,3×62
9.3×62 Mauser · 9,3 x 62
Otto Bock's 1905 cartridge, designed for Mauser 98 type rifles. With heavy, large-diameter bullets it is a dependable cartridge for big game.
The 9.3×62 was designed by Otto Bock in 1905 for the standard Mauser action. The nominal bullet diameter is 9.3 mm.
Bullets of 232–285 grain (15–19 g) leave the muzzle at roughly 650–750 m/s; recoil is firm, but the heavy bullet gives excellent penetration and wounding effect.
Hunting use
Used on red deer, wild boar and fallow deer, particularly on driven hunts and in wooded terrain, and on mouflon. It is excessive for roe deer. Typical bullet weights are 232–285 grain (15–19 g).
